Nowadays, I watch a lot of couples on YouTube who are sailing around the world. And when I watch that, I’ve got the need to record ourselves as well. This is very simple to say right? Actually, we are really dreading that. Also because our English is not that good and we want to publish it in English.

Actually, we were hiccups together. Hard to start and as it couldn’t be a coincident the next thing happened. Last couple of weeks, Carla prepared her parental house so it will be suitable for rental in holidays. It means cleaning up a lot of stuff and prepare it to be a nice house for families. Because we had an old not used DVD player at home, we moved it to the house as well. Carla find some DVDs while cleaning, so we put them in the player a couple of weeks ago. To our surprise but also joy there was a DVD that we had made ourselves which we gave to my parents in law back then. It was a collection of recordings what we did on daily base. My mother in law was ill back then and Carla wanted to give her nice happy time with watching funny daily movies of ourselves. The recordings are made with a digital camcorder(2003/2004) and hardly edited. There are movies that you see us setting up a tent in our backyard, me training on a home trainer, we doing gourmet, we sitting in front of the tent on holiday eating, we laying down in the tent, waiting for higher temperature to get out… and much more. I must say, it were just simple kind of movies with a lot of fun. And the best of all, it could be a vlog like it was made now a days by Youtubers 😊 We talked to the camera, created nice/funny scenes and before you know it, there is a movie of more than an hour.

Together we admired how simple it was for us. Just ourselves, have fun together. By watching this, we are aware of the fact that we can do this, recording our selves and make a movie of it. I said we can do this, I didn’t say we are good in it 😊

Last weekend our kids slept with friends so Carla and I had the time to watch sailboats for sale on the chromecast. Because the kids weren’t there, we decided to put cameras on while we’re watching boats, so we could just record what we discuss. We agreed we won’t put it online unless we think it could be when we are watching it back. This ensures that we are not ashamed of our English and the way we record. Together we had a lot of fun. Carla was happy because finally she could say the famous words “subscribe and like” and also “we put a link below”…

We used the digital camcorder on a tripod with a point mic and we tested our gopro as well. We haven’t seen the footage yet, but we know for sure we need another handy camera which is light enough to hold in the hand. We will probably go for the DJI Pocket 2. Hopefully this will provide even more accessible registrations of our activities.
